Dress for suck-sess

So, today we had a "dress for success" seminar at work. We are a rapidly growing company and with a lot of fresh out of high school or college interns and employees they thought it would be helpful to bring in outside consultants to help us perfect our image. Sounds good right?
This annoyingly cheerful woman starts explaining the appropriate attire for women who want "go the extra step" with their career...I already don't like her. She's trying way too hard, she's unrealistic because she's wearing like, 5 layers of clothing in the middle of summer, and with this "know it all attitude" she starts breaking down from head to toe what we should be wearing. This woman is some VP for 20 years of an awesome company and we are supposed to want to be like her one day. According to her "guidelines" pink nail polish is too "barbie-like" and we should wear neutral mauves instead. Also, necklaces with plastic are cheap, we should be wearing pearls. The proper height of our heels should be 3 inches and sling back style shoes to her are "nice". We shouldn't wear the same jewelry everyday either. So, basically I look like a cheap barbie half of the time at work because I hate pearls, love the color pink on my nails, and think mauve and sling back shoes went out of style years ago unless you are over the age of 60, then its totally still acceptable. I started realizing, if this is what a woman in upper management looks and acts like, I am not really sure this is the right avenue for me. Maybe I need to think about working for a company where the color if my nail polish doesn't matter as much as my work ethic or skills do. We were really supposed to believe that if we want to move up and be successful this is what we are supposed to do!?! I just don't buy it. I walked out of this meeting wanting to resign.
Yea. Dress for Suck-sess is more like it.

LOL! "No one puts baby in a corner." ;-)
Yea, I still think you need to look into beauty school and put your beauty skills to work, raking in the dough!
