Young the Giant - 2 nights - All Access

Every time I get to hang out with a band backstage/after the show, I always feel so privileged and thankful. Being able to surround myself with musicians that I appreciate and adore is one of the best feelings I have experienced in life. My passion for music bleeds into an adoration and love for the band that is incomprehensible. This time was just like the others, mind blowing, fun, and totally worth it.
Sean and I had the honor and privilege of hanging out with the Young the Giant guys this weekend.  We were both tired from a long week and the Clean Energy Christmas party festivities but we pushed ourselves because we had tickets and both LOVE this band.
Greg, (Christas boyfriend) just came off a U.S. and World Tour with Incubus where he worked for the band and where Young the Giant opened for them. Being from Orange County, Greg and the YTG guys totally hit it off. I already loved YTG when I realized Greg was on tour with these guys and had made friends with them. Simultaneously, the band totally blew up after a rockin show on the MTV Video Music Awards (best show of the night along with Adele if you ask me). This series of shows played at a little venue in Costa Mesa was their first shows after the tour and in their hometown.
I was prepared for potential backstage passes but didn't want to get Sean's hopes up so I just kept it to myself and hoped for the best. Our first 15 minutes there we had already met one of the guitarists and a couple minutes later had our all access wristbands. Cha-Ching!
Preshow, we hung out backstage, helped ourselves to their endless supply of drinks and mingled with the band a tiny bit.

After the show the feeling is always a lot more relaxed and chill. We hung out on the couch, got to talk to the band a bit more and take some pictures....well...at least I took pictures. haha.

Before we knew it the show was over and we were invited over to Eric's house (actually I think it was his parents house) for a little post show party. It was cool and chill. We got to hear some cool stories from the road and some of their fiasco's from previous small tours they did. I was super sleepy so we left around 1:30pm.

Night 2, I thought, "What could top night 1?" But I think I actually liked night 2 better. I finally got two pictures with Samir (the lead singer) and the guitarist Eric who's house we were at the night before, so, I had a picture with the whole band now. :)

Our view from night 2 was so epic. We held down a spot on the backstage balcony and had such a rad view. Check it out:

The video's are so dope. The sound is pretty good too. I was worried being behind the sound would suck but it was righteous.

Oh yea!

The spot we held down and how we watched the show...peering behind the backstage curtain.
We are so stoked.
yay!

Sean said it is the best concert experience he has ever had. And let me tell you, that is a tall order because he has seen everyone and anyone. From Michael Jackson, to David Bowie, and Radiohead. However, he had to meet little old me to have the best experience of his life by getting backstage and meeting some super awesome musicians.
Mission accomplished. :)
