Seal Beach 10k

I ran the Seal Beach 10k for the 3rd time on Saturday. It was another personal best. I ran it this fast a few months ago on Bolsa Chica Beach but I was happy to have it officially recorded! My goal was to do it under an hour and I did!

I purposely parked near to the salon that Frances's works so I could stop by after. It was nice to finally see where she works and meet her coworkers. As I was leaving a guy was walking by and he said, "THAIRapy Oh I get it..thats cleaver!" I said, "Isn't it a fun play on words?" He went on to tell me that he was in therapy for a long time after he really hurt his brain when he was in a car accident that he and his buddy were drinking and driving in Venice Beach and they flew off a 40 foot bridge and he went through the windshield. Wow. All I could say was that there must be a reason he survived such a horrible accident. He then pointed down to his shirt and race number and said he just finished the 5k. He walked it in 58 minutes. He told me with so much excitement and was so excited that I ran it too. He gave me a high five and had such an amazing happy spirit.
I told him how rad that was that he finished it and said goodbye. As I walked away I felt so impacted by his story. I felt kind of horrible that I ran twice as far as it took him to finish the 5k but HE DID IT! He overcame so much and it was such a huge accomplishment and he found so much joy in that.
Suddenly my race time really didn't matter anymore and I was just so thankful that I can run and have been blessed with this strong body. I prayed in thanks and I prayed for that guy. I felt like I should've/could've stayed and talked to him more, heck, maybe even get breakfast with him because thats where he was headed, and I sure was hungry. I wished I had turned around and couldn't stop thinking about him as I walked the long walk back to the car.

Give thanks to the Lord, his love endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16:34
