Life in Death
When I took this picture I already knew I was going to title it Life in Death. I love the contrast. I could've/should've spent another 15 minutes with this shot but I think I captured what I intended.
This week, we had a very tragic family accident. My cousins stepson was paralyzed in a dirt bike accident and he is only 16 years old. He was wearing a helmet, and he sustained only minor scrapes and bruises, but the dirt bike fell on his back and severed his spinal cord midway up at T2.
We had been surrounded by so many beautiful blessings of life in our family lately it was a hard humble reminder of how precious life is. Stevie will live, but his life has been completely altered forever. In one millisecond, everything changed. That's how fragile our bodies are.
To me, this picture above also represents the fundamental meaning of Christianity and God in my life. In death, because of Him, springs life. He has turned every tragedy into something beautiful and all you have to do is love Him with your whole heart, and follow his guidance, and watch what beauty unfolds. His grace is enough, His love is enough.
I am not sure why God had to get through to Stevie this way but I know he was trying and I do know that He will make something beautiful out of this. My Aunt Cindy (God knows how amazing her story is too) is actually at a very strong, and focused place right now. She has accepted The Lord as her savior and she has a positive outlook and strength. Had this happened a few years ago, I would be worried, but she is much stronger now. I have faith that God will work through her and help Stevie, my cousin, and her family.
I continue to lift them up in prayer as I continue to lift up every single member of my family and my friends for protection but that one day, someday, every single one of them will too see the beauty of life in death and know the true love of God.
"Each time He said, 'My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.'" 2 Corinthians 12:9
