I am injured. I apparently hurt my shin on the Seal Beach 10k a week and a half ago. I'm not quite sure what is wrong but its either shin splints or a stress fracture. I am starting to think it is a combination of both. I've debated going and getting an x-ray to see if it shows anything but what I'm reading online is that it is usually a hairline fracture and hard to even see, but it sure does hurt.
I've been wearing flat shoes and resting all week. I've been icing and elevating whenever I get a chance. I am convinced my $50 Sacony's are to blame too. I need my expensive Nike's cause I can feel a difference. The Sacony's have given me blisters, and other issues I've NEVER had with my Nike's.
I am 2 weeks away from another half marathon and I'm not sure how its going to be or what I should do. I think I am going to ask around and see if anyone wants my chip to run it for free. I might have a couple friends who are interested. Of course the year I sign up for twice as many half marathons as I usually do, this happens. I promise when I am better I am going to ease into training. That is one of my biggest downfalls. I think I am super woman and I rush out and do too much.
So till then I have to rest...Rest...something that is very hard for me to do. Luckily I can bike and I think I am going to attempt to swim too to keep up on my goals. Humf, we'll see!
