I finished the SF Half Marathon in a surprisingly good time despite my knee problems last week. My best half marathon time is 2:14 which was set in Arizona, January 2007 and I ran SF in 2:16. I could feel minor pain in my knee occasionally while running but I kept truckin. I decided before the race I was going to use KT tape instead of the brace and I think it worked really well since I have had no pain after. My mom took off feeling good around mile 3 but I hung back because I didn't want to start too fast. This is the first half marathon I have run without my mom at my side so it was interesting to feel myself work through it without someone there to help motivate. I didn't struggle half as much as I thought I was, and didn't really feel bad until mile 11 when I was ready to get it over with. The course was literally the width of SF starting at Golden Gate park and then up past AT&T park, and underneath the Bay Bridge. It was actually really beautiful and mostly downhill. I am so proud and glad I accomplished what I set out to do! Looking forward to the Long Beach Half in October.

Post Race Celebrations:

I do it for the metals....and Champagne!!

The rest of the weekend was amazing! I am sooooo spoiled! We went to see Wicked at the Orpheum Theater and I was blown away by how great it was. I absolutely loved it! I ate Gelato, got a mani & pedi with my momma, took a nap in the sun, relaxed and enjoyed the company. Only bummer was I didn't get to see my brother, or my baby and Erika. I'll see them in less than a month though. I was also really stoked the dogs did great with Frances while I was gone. She stayed at my place and was their mommy for the weekend. I am very thankful to have someone I trust to take such good care of them because it is hard to leave them. Once I was gone I realized how much of my life really does revolve around them and their schedules. Sheesh, it was a nice little vacation. haha.
I am a very lucky girl and live an amazing life indeed.
