Originally, I thought nothing could top the first two nights. I figured, as the nights progressed, my excitement for the shows would calm down a bit, but I was wayyyyyy wrong.
Last night went by too fast. After a nap in my car on my lunch break, I was totally ready for another night. I decided to keep it cool so I stood in the middle/back of the floor, right behind the moshpit so I could still see the show (somewhat cause tall people suck) and watch the action in the pit. I wore flip flops to keep myself from running in and it worked. I really enjoyed watching and dancing from the back, it was perfect. The true talent of the band was showcased in The Final Cut. The song is known by most fans as being the most epic songs because of the length, amazing dueling guitars, talk box, and the addition of the Theremin. The album they played "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness" was the first Coheed album I bought in 2005, and the Final Cut was the song that I said, “Wow, these guys aren’t like anyone else out there” and was one of the first songs I loved. They never cease to amaze me. I thought Once Upon Your Dead Body would be my favorite to see live but besides the Final Cut and the Evil Melody in the encore, "The Willing Well II: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness" was my favorite. I forgot that during my first half marathon I sang that song in my head the whole time and it helped me work through the pain. To watch it live was phenomenal and really meant a lot to me.
I am so sad tonight is the last night. It went by so fast. I don’t know how I am going to come down off of this Coheed high I am on. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that my love, adoration and fanage for Coheed is completely been restored and I will never doubt it again. They take the number 1 spot back in my heart as my favorite band of all time. As much as I love the others, nothing can compare to their talent and awesomeness.
This is the definition of Epic and why it is the perfect word to describe Neverender:
1. noting or pertaining to a long poetic composition, usually centered upon a hero, in which a series of great achievements or events is narrated in elevated style: = The story of Coheed and Cambria
2. resembling or suggesting such poetry: Music = Poetry
3. heroic: Claudio, Travis, Michael, and Chris = Hero’s
4. of unusually great size or extent: 4 nights, 4 albums, cover to cover, an acoustic set and encores = great size!
Tonight Scotty and I will eat at Combo’s Pizza for the last time (we’ve eaten there every single night before the show! Haha). The acoustic set starts at 5:30, Travis plays, and then the final show starts. I am sure to leave my heart with them at the Avalon and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
“So picture this face and burn it to flames
To shelter it at home at the fireplace
And all but memory will fade
With the flick of the flame
So I have a secret that no one should know
That I shouldn't tell
But of all the... but of all the worlds
This one won't feel...
This one just won't leave me well
What is this shit you keep selling me, boy?
I'm not gonna hold your hand here when you walk
You'll burn in hell while they're digging you out
You'll burn in hell while they're digging you out
I'm not gonna hold your hand here when you walk
You'll burn in hell while they're digging you out
You'll burn in hell”
“Run, little rabbit...
Go hide in the blades of that grass...
Run, rabbit, run”
“No one runs faster than you can
No one runs faster than you
No one runs faster than you eat
(To the end with you... to the end with you)”
-All from The Willing Well II
“Casting quarters into wells that hold our dreams
You won't believe me... if I told you so
Casting quarters into wells that hold our dreams
You won't believe me... I wouldn't if you told me so”
“Jesse, a bad boy, just come look at what your brother did”
