We had a minor crisis this weekend. Friday, I took a relaxing bath and read my cheesy Star gossip magazine because I still wasn’t feeling 100% from the hour old pasta that made me sick. I took the pups out for their last peepee break of the night around 10:30pm and about 1 minute after we were on the grass Daisy started wailing, and ran over to me with her little foot in the air. I couldn’t see because it was so dark so I carried her and up to the house. She was making so much noise and was obviously in a lot of pain. I put her on my bed and tried to calm her down while I assessed the situation. It was obviously in her little foot cause she nipped at me when I tried to look at it. I was panicking. I called Jason and asked him to come over because I was shaking and freaking out. She cried and cried and bit at her foot. By the time Jason arrived it had swelled up pretty good but I got her to stop crying. She gave him kisses for like 10 minutes and I got to look at her foot. I called an emergency vet and they were very helpful. They told me she was probably bit or stung by a spider, wasp or bee and that I could give her half of a dose of children’s Benadryl. We rushed to the drug store and got her the dye free, sugar free Benadryl. In the rush of chaos I accidentally gave her the whole dose but it worked and the swelling went down immediately. Luckily, I didn’t hurt her even more by giving her too much. Ooops, bad mommy. She just got a little drunk and slept better. haha Just kidding. She woke up after a good night’s sleep and was back to normal. God knows what kinds of horrible insect bit my baby but thankfully it wasn’t anything poisonous. That coulda killed her. The rest of the weekend was pretty chill, I didn’t really do much. It’s a good thing to know you can give your dog children’s Benadryl in emergencies like that. Something all dog owners should know.
