I've been killin it! Can you tell? I've been steadily increasing my weekly mileage by 10% every week (give or take) to prepare for the Orange County Half Marathon next weekend! I think I said after LB in October that I was going to take a little break. Ooops! I just want to be a part of the legacy series that they are offering to returning runners. Since I have run this race 3 years in a row, I qualify as a legacy runner and I get a special pin and duffle bag. Honestly, I just run for the merch and medals.
Training schedule: (there were a couple quick 2 miles that didn't get clocked.)
Sunday, I ran 8.6 from Huntington Beach to Newport Beach and ended back at the end of the HB pier. I felt pretty good but it was pretty warm. I got a little sun, enjoyed people watching, and knocked it out.
My body has been responding really, really well. I am feeling so strong, and healthy, and cut. ;-) In a perfect world, I would have one more weekend to prepare and do 10 miles, but its already almost race day so I am going to make the jump from 8 miles to 13. Having that one extra weekend would be perfect but I am still feeling really confident. I am not aiming for my personal best (2:07) but keeping it realistic. I am going to aim for 2:13:59. EEkkkk. We'll see. God willing! I'll just be happy to finish feeling strong.
Here are my current results by time:
My race results by year:
The good news is that I am getting faster. Every year my 10k time and (some) of my half marathons have increased. I can't believe it takes sooooo long to improve. Like, years! But then again, I don't do interval training, but I do a fair share of personal training and strength training.
I think I am getting ready to run my first full marathon. I know, crazy right? I just think if I am going to do it, I better do it! There are so many awesome full marathons around here that I can choose from. It is just such a HUGE commitment. I think my first goal is to get Sean to do a half, get him addicted too, and then we run our first full together.
That's my secret M.O. anyway.
God willing! ;-)
