Every year it seems to get worse down here. I am always amazed at the amount of smoke and fires I see. How is there any more land left to burn? The air quality is only moderate by the coastline so I am not affected too bad. The one in rancho palos verses last week was a lot closer. I was driving back from Merced on Sunday and as I passed LAX, I looked east and the entire hillside was smouldering reds and orange. It was surprisingly clear so I could see the whole mountain burning. It was beautiful and horrible at the same time.
This weekend, Randy and I are getting out of town and hopefully away from the smoke, and heading to Mammoth. Sadly, there is another big fire up by Yosemite but I don't think it's infiltrated over to mammoth. We are going to go kayaking and hiking. It should be fun. I'm excited to get into the mountains that aren't burning.
