My co-worker Rafael went into the hospital on Friday for what was first diagnosed as a bad gallbladder. After a few tests they determined it was not his gallbladder but in fact, his heart. At 31 years old and slightly overweight, only 15% of his heart was working. They went in for an angioplasty and could not find a blockage. He knew he had a weak heart (hereditary) but after neglected his body for so long, it caught up to him quick. They said if he had waited until Monday when he had scheduled tests, he probably would’ve had a massive heart attack that would have killed him. He has a little boy, Isaac who is 4, and so much life ahead of him. I think this was a huge wake up call for him and it should be for all of us. Our body is so fragile and we should not neglect it. Please keep him in your prayers as he will be recovering and strengthening his heart over the next few weeks. If there is no improvement, he will be given a pacemaker and put on the dreaded heart donor list. As for work, I will be holding down the fort and his job while he is out. Thankfully, we are bringing in a temp to cover customer service, but hopefully he will be back soon.
Please take care of yourself, and keep Rafael in your prayers.

wow - that is really really young to have such huge problems. We will definitely keep him in our thoughts and prayers, along with his family. A friend of mine once uttered some awesome words of wisdom - just because they make something in your size doesn't mean you should wear it. Same goes for food. Just because someone cooks it, doesn't mean you have to eat it. Somethings are just not good for you no matter who you are! And for goodness sake - get up off that couch!
