I got a chance to hang with Brett Gordon, eat some of our favorite Mexican food at La Nitas, went and saw The Rocker, and tried to stay cool in the blistering Valley Heat!
I saw little Kaelyn on Sunday and spent the whole day with my brother and really enjoyed catching up with him. That little girl is so dang cute. Wow. Nothin gets the biological clock ticking like a little 5 pound bundle of joy! Don’t worry, I threw the dang batteries of that clock out the window cause I still have like 5 years before I want to hear that ticking again!! Haha. No, seriously, I am sooo excited about my new role as Auntie! I can’t wait to watch her grow up and learn cool stuff. It’s going to be great. I really look forward to growing closer to Erika too. I have so much respect for her after watching her go through all this. She is a trouper! I see how much my brother loves her and Kaelyn and I know they are going to be so much closer and happier after all this is behind them. So yea, more trips to Merced are in my future. Blehhh.
Merced, Merced. I don’t know about that place. Something about driving into it gives me a rush of comfort and familiarity doubled with heavy burden and disgust. It’s such a weird feeling that’s the only way I can think to describe it. It’s nice to come home to the places I know like the back of my hand but at the same time I just feel so caged there, even when I am visiting. I don’t even like going to Target in Merced. You know something is wrong with that cause Target is one of the greatest places in the world, and I am so uncomfortable at the one in Merced. Haha. When I drove into LA with Coheed playing and I felt this huge sense of affirmation and freedom and I was glad to be home. I am so thankful for my life down here, the friends I have made, and the life I have been able to make for myself. I love it when I am reminded that I am on the right track. If I ever doubt it, I’ll just go back to Merced for a few days and that will snap me out of it! Heehee.
